- Under UV the gum on 1979 U217-E appears much "whiter" than the later 1980 U217 which is "dull" in comparison although they are both PVAD.
- The 1979 issue - U217-E - is known as the PCP "experimental issue" as when it was tested by Royal Mail it was considered to be sub-standard but accepted by their quality assurance division.
- When it was re-printed in 1980 - U217 - it was changed to PCP1 which apparently has a brief afterglow, whereas the original had none.
To be honest I can find no "afterglow" difference in my tests.
- It will be no surprise to note that SG doesn't even recognise the difference.
