Mounts

Due to the fact that most of my specialist albums require mounts, I have collected quite a few over the past couple of years, including some really different pre-cut sizes. I will be offering some of these (all will be unopened new packets) at much cheaper prices than normal retail (compare prices at this retail site).

I will offer a large variety of sizes and even some strips so that if you want to cut them to pre-determined sizes you can. Supplies are not inexhaustible at these prices so jump in quick if you want them as I won't be buying any more.

I am changing the way I display the mounts I sell. To me it does not matter a hoot what make they are - all the big names have similar standards (as a personal opinion I believe DAVO to be the best but it is a wafer thin preference).

From today there will only be two sections - STANDARD and GARD - and after that they will be displayed sorted in size (width - across the bottom, then the height if there are two widths the same).

When purchasing mounts remember that the measurement is WIDTH i.e. along the bottom followed by HEIGHT i.e. along the side.

There are generally two types of Mount - "open at the top" (Standard) and "sealed top and bottom and open in the middle (also known as GARD)".

The choice is yours it is a personal preference and really depends on how they are to be used - if you are unsure which type to purchase just contact me and ask. The latter are particularly useful for the recently introduced self-adhesive stamps if you want to retain the backing paper.

UK Postage will be minimum £1 for the first packets, or strip, then discounted for each subsequent packet or strip costing as little as 20p.

TIPS :

1. From a display perspective, choose one colour of mount and stick to it - i.e. don't switch from black to clear (at least within albums.
2. Avoid something known as "crystal mounts" they have destroyed more stamps than the post office.
3. Whatever you do - don't use too much glue - you can always re-stick the mount - you will never remove it from the stamp it has become attached to without damaging it.
4. It is probably more cost efficient if you buy certain accessories from the country you live in; as postage charges to send them outside the country of origin are usually prohibitive.
5. GARD tend to be slightly more expensive than STANDARD and CLEAR more expensive than BLACK (go figure!!).

If you see an "(S)" against any item = Standard Sizes for certain GB stamp issues.
