Castles

The Castle high values were first introduced in 1988 adapted from photographs by the Duke of York.

They were originally printed by Harrison until losing the contract to Enschedé in 1998. They were finally phased out of use in August 2000, when the Recess Machin High Values were first issued. The method of identification of the different issues and some of the more prominent varieties is listed in the side-box

7. Castle High Values

A nice small small closed collection to specialise in but be warned the varieties are expensive as are some of the rarer cylinder blocks.

Note:
Beware of those sales with "Gold missing" attached to them as this can be chemically removed.
