Is there anyone that can confirm whether a counter sheet *normal Size and Large versions) have been issued for the new Dark Red (also called Royal Mail Red 2 or Scarlet)?
I cannot find them on Norvic's latest list (dated November '16) but there is one on the Year code list on page 3 of DGR121.

I am not convinced either way to be honest. I have never physically seen one up for sale anywhere, which makes me think they do not yet exist, bur I have been wrong before.

Thanks for the confirmation, my thoughts also.
I am just waiting for more confirmation from an eBay seller who has ordered some sheets from Royal Mail that are dated in December. He is going to let me know when they arrive what colour they are but I fully expect them to be the original red.

The counter sheets printed at the end of 2016 were still in the original red.

Hi,
The dealer that I contacted earlier has now received the sheets he ordered ... they were printed in December and are the "old" red colour.

So, in the absence of other evidence, a late December printing in the old shade pretty much indicates that DLR is going to be very unlikely to have printed a new shade with a 16 code.

Cartor has also printed 1st class stamps using the new deeper red colour in their Windsor Castle prestige stamp book. However, Cartor is part of the Walsall group.

Yes they are the same group (ISP), but don't Cartor generally print in Lithography, and Walsall in Gravure?

If they have continued that for the Windsor Castle specials they will be different stamps in any case.

However, the point may be moot as they should (in theory) be M17L or at worst MA17 in any case. Wonder if they will or not?

The good news (for me at least) is that the way the cataloguing for my security album works whether they are M16L or M17L won't matter because I allocate numbers by "ISSUE" date so it will be a 2017 number regardless and therefore I won't be worrying too much about this until December 17.

Yes, this is correct the new Machins from the Windsor Castle PSB will be different as they are printed in litho while the other new red stamps produced by Walsall are printed in gravure. The Machin stamps from this new PSB were printed last year and have date codes M16L.
