Hi!

My dad used to work in a post office and collected a huge amount of stamps over the past 40+ years. Commemorative sets, machin stamps, booklets etc. He went to a collectors shop in town and showed the guy a few and he said that they would likely all only be worth face value.

However, he has the stamps shown below which were slight misprints of the Caernarfon Castle 1.50 stamp where the writing has slipped onto the stamp below it.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me whether they would be worth anything more than face value? He says he has some other misprinted stamps somewhere, but hasn't managed to locate them as of yet.

Thanks for your time!

Mike

Apologies for the size of the image below, I'm not sure how to make it smaller.

NICE

These stamps are mis perforated. I personally have not seen them listed in any catalogues. They are certainly worth much more than face value.

Do not split them without taking advice. Keep them in the formats that you have shown and I will try to find out for you what sort of value they have.

Thanks a lot for the reply and help!!

That sounds promising. I don't suppose you have an email address for him/her? Sevenoaks is a fair bit of a drive away and it'd be easier if I can email them the photo.

If not I will give them a call and find out.

Thanks again, Mike.

Thanks!

I did actually search Google, probably should've added the word 'stamp' though instead of just searching permutations of the name, phone number and address.

I may be teaching grandmothers to suck eggs here linnaen but please DON'T expect to receive Catalogue value or even close to it from a dealer.

I won't go into the whys and wherefores of CV, but if you can obtain Market Value (MV), this would be a better figure to go from.

Even then a fair dealer will offer you a much lower deal than MV as he/she has costs/overheads and also needs to make a profit to feed his family.
