With the new technology of today it is always nice to see modern errors

Just seen this post on Ian Billings blog.

In May last Ian reported that an error on the 100g Special Delivery stamp cylinder meant that some sheets from the cylinder were missing the iridescent cylinder number.

Now the same error has occurred on the new 1.05 definitive, certainly on the latest printing - and probably on the original.

So far we have had reports as follows:

With iridescent cylinder D1
Column 2 Rows 2 and R4

Without iridescent cylinder D1
Column 1 Row 3
Column 2 Rows 1 and R3
Column 3 Row 3

Just to add to the list, I have a block with the overprint cylinder number from column 3 row 4. At least it is cheaper to buy both cylinder block types this time - the special delivery blocks can be a bit of a blow to the wallet!

Is this only on certain print dates?
I only have Print date 20/01/16 x 2 and the error does not seem to appear on either
Column 1 Row 3 and Column 2 Row R3 i.e. it does have the iridescent cylinder.

I think the print date for the error was 09/02/16. Ian was unsure if there were any errors with the first printing.

I have the error on:
Column 2 row 1 & 3
Column 3 row 1 & 3

So the error seems to be found on the following:

Column 1 Row 3
Column 2 Row 1 & 3
Column 3 Row 1, 3 & 4

So the error seems to be on the whole printing of 09.02.2016.
My blocks of the 19.01.2016 / 20.01.2016 do not have the error

And thus the pulse quickens.
It should make sorting though bulk lots exciting again in a few months when examples work their way into the market.

I just been to wales and went by all post office on my way, i did get a lot for my collection and regarding the 1.05 with the missing plate number on the iridescent overprint it was only on the 09-02-2016 printing, on the ones I got from the 10-02-2016 printing it was on.

So if any of you are looking for this error as I am, look for the 09-02-2016 printing

If you have any spares I am looking for the bottom left 2 stamps in column 1 in the sheet with the plate number and the grid in the left margen (I am collecting grid positions and plate number).

Michael

I have two blocks both from 19/01/16.

Column 2 row 2 has the cylinder number, but column 3 row 1 does not
