I'm essentially a LE collector so don't know much about Machins.
I came across a 1st class (circa 1993 maybe SG1668) that has the same gold uniformally on the reverse as that on the face.
I had assumed that the colour may have been picked up from a gold coloured envelope to which it may have been attached. However on closer examination the gold lies under glue remnants which cover a lot of the back of the stamp.

Is this a known issue or an aberration? Are there others?

I've made images (jpg. scans) but how do I post them on this forum?
I could attach them to an email.

Getting there here are two images. First reverse view along with a 'standard' stamp of the same era, for comparison and then an image of the face.
