Not sure whether you already have a "Royal Mail Smilers" topic?

I am pretty sure that a few years ago I heard that the Personalised Smilers (that is those with personal photographs se-tenant to the actual stamp issued) were sometimes printed differently to the original Smiler. Sometimes even with a different printer.

I am only interested in the early Smilers (up to around the 'We will Remember Them' issue. Concise number LS 35) and have the following questions:

a) is this assumption true?
b) does anyone collect Personalised Smilers
c) is there anyone who has a list of printers if they are different.
d) does anyone have a list of printing methods (ie Photo, Litho etc)
e) what value, if any, would these sheets sell for

Very many thanks, Michael Cumming

Wow this is one out of "left field" as our american cousins would say.
I am afraid I have no idea ... I think I can count on one hand the number of personalised smilers I have ever seen for sale.

There were a couple of LS2 and LS3 on eBay a few months ago I think, but the asking price was too high for any buyers I believe. I may be wrong and they subsequently sold.... They were certainly printed by the same printer though.

Ironically a neighbour of mine bought me a half sheet with my photo on for my 60th birthday, I never thought to test it for a different printer than the original (this one is way outside your LS35 limit by the way so of no interest to you at all even if I could find it now!!).
