I cannot believe that there has been no news on this thread.
There also appears to be no listings of available material.
Can someone point me in the right direction to economically obtain this material.
Did a dealer overprint blocks of 1/2d with various values for layby of goods?
Is there any truth in the story that a 'dealer' would overprint any sheet for the cost of half the sheet. I guess this could account for the number of low values overprinted…………
Has anyone heard of similar?

Several pages in Chapter Four of the Complete Deegam Machin Handbook illustrates and explains some of the overprints. _________________ " .... You may think you understood what you thought I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you think you heard is not what I thought I meant. .... "

Thanks Charlie.
Yes I recall now [have just printed them off for quicker reference].
It will be a slow process but I will try and get a listing of the ones that I have on Stampboards.
I have been more concerned with what the actual overprint is than what printing of the Machin it is aside from the value.
This may be a catalyst for an author with a much bigger collection my mine.
thanks again. Tony |

Thought this may need a bump after 3 uneventful years.

Thanks. Yes many are mentioned. I guess I am trying to expand on this listing and find some people that have the anecdotal stories of the Irish propaganda of the 1970s

Thanks David
Are any of these reasonably available
Is there any literature to support their authenticity.
There a lot of very 'modern printings' on ePay lately.
Thanks

I am not sure how many bags of Kiloware I've been though in forty plus years, but other than a few 2d tax payment overprints I have yet to find any of these.
Perhaps I should dig into those files once again ? _________________ " .... You may think you understood what you thought I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you think you heard is not what I thought I meant. .... "

Hi Tony
The Todmorden ones come up on eBay though not that often, the others not so sure.
The Cook Book specimen overprint is well documented SG Vol 3 12 Edition p294
I have some info on the 2p overprint on the 5d but I have not seen it printed anywhere.
Similarly with the Cwmbran overprints although there may be something related to Wilding overprints as these are more common
There are a lot of 2d Company Overprints available the GB Overprints Society will be helpful. The 6d ones however I find very hard to come by.
The 1/2d N Hod example I have been told there are mint copies but have never seen any
Just remembered I have some 4d vermilion booklet panes of 6 with Lundy overprints although I think these were probably done for a giggle
I would suggest you steer clear of those with Cancelled or School Specimen as I feel these are all fakes similarly those with the black training bar overprints there are just so many of them they cannot all be genuine
Best of luck with your hunting
Regards
