I've been away for 5 weeks and have just taken delivery from the Philatelic Bureau of the full set of 29 Gold Winners Olympic mini-sheets and 34 Paralympic mini-sheets.

Whilst the design of the individual stamps is uniformly excellent, I am much less happy with the way Royal Mail has handled the mini-sheets and their despatch.

The mini-sheets have been torn from the larger A4 printers sheet and come from different places on that sheet. As a result, some have perforations on two, three or four sides. And on the sides which have perforations, these are all odd - some sides have long perfs and others look so short they could almost have been guillotined. There is the odd bend to some mini-sheets, presumably resultant from the process of tearing them from the A4 sheet.

And finally the packing. All the sheets have been stuffed into a minimum number of stock cards (5 for the olympics, 3 for the paralympics) with a rubber band to keep them in place - which of course it hasn't - so there will have been some rubbing.

I have spoken to Royal Mail who say they cannot offer a set of matching mini-sheets ie taken from the same place of the A4 sheet. I have not discussed returning the lot for a refund.

Is anyone else dissatisfied with the way this has been handled or have a suggestion for remedial action?

The added complication (and potential additional expense) for me is that I understand that Lighthouse (which I am committed to for storing my GB collection) will only be offering spaces for single stamps so I either have to cut up the mini-sheets or buy an additional set of singles from a dealer or Ebay ...

Having bought all the paralympic M/S's & spent time at the P.O putting them all on, the first batch arrived with clearly the wrong dates on ,so i sent them back , now the other ones have arrived with what seems the wrong dates on some of them, including where the issue date is printed on the side tab of the sheet ,
now i'm not completely sure WHEN the correct issue dates were.
ANYONE know exactly???
some seem to be 7 days after the medals were won .

I gave up my subscription to "special" stamps at the back end of 2010 so wasn't included in this lot (thank god).

However, I notice in the latest Bulletin that Tallents House is receiving extreme praise for the way these issues have been handled.

I should add that this praise is from a Dealer specialising in creating his own FDCs s I don't know what weight you want to give it.
