|From what I am reading here and there, Royal Mail is attempting a major project by printing a commemorative stamp for each and every UK Gold Medal Victory. The impressive part of the effort is the speed with which they are acting or reacting and so far the apparent accuracy of the result.
And as expected there have been quite a few Gold Medals earned by individuals and home teams.
One thing that caught my eye was a note that the printing is being done at six divergent facilities which to a Machinista means the potential of some minor differences between stamps from different printing machines.
I gather that they have minimized that by all working from a common master sheet which is transmitted electronically from Stamp HQ to the printing plants.
But still, six printing facilities does create the possibility of some interesting flyspeck variations.
Either way, Royal Mail seems to be demonstrating how good they can be when they make the effort.
I look forward to proud Brits using examples of each and every stamp on their regular mail for a while and hope to get a postally used copy of all of them.
