|I entered this paragraph into another more general forum but thought I had better include it here also for any of our members. If anyone has more succinct information (such as actual date of this year's increase) please let us all know.
As most GB collectors know RM have a policy of raising prices (following Retail Price Index - RPI) in late March or early April each year.
Well the general consensus of opinion is this will probably take place in May this year - but be warned - because of a new statute passed in Parliament earlier this year, as I understand it, RM are now allowed to raise their prices to (virtually) anything they want - with the exception of 2nd class which has to stay within RPI.
I think we should be prepared for a fairly large rise over the next couple of years as RM try to pull their "universal" service into profitability.
I might suggest that if you are still looking for issues that RM normally provide at face value, either from a local post office or the Philatelic Bureau (usually up to a year old), that you purchase them in the next month or so as any NVI elements will rise in price as if they were new issues.
Obviously dealer prices will also rise for NVIs as any stock they hold will be worth proportionately more.
I hope I have explained that so it is understandable - if not let me know.
