With a few flaws that add to the value.

Not even going to comment on the first one ...
but
the second one is hilarious ...

First time I have heard the Houses of Parliament called a "horse boat".

At the moment we - "the general public" - are in fact are calling it "The Pigs Trough" after the latest expenses scandals.

PS I notice this guy is a member of about a dozen stamp societies ... hope doesn't send his philatelic thoughts as contributions to any!!

OK I will comment on the first one ......

Quote:
Great Britain MACHINS Stamp. 6 1/2p Turquoise.

Couple white spots in right margin.

ALSO near lower right corner in the blue area is an odd whitish squiggle.

Perhaps an undiscovered FLAW!

No hinge.

Stamp in good condition

He has a "make him an offer" button ... try a half-cent - just in case that "odd whitish squiggle" is an undiscovered flaw.

PS .. Does "no hinge" make a difference to the value of a used stamp as there is no gum to worry about anyway?

2p Green Large Printing flaw 99p;

http://cgi.ebay.com/GREAT-BRITAIN-MH27-UNUSED-LARGE-PRINTING-FLAW-Look_W0QQitemZ280472221409QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item414d7276e1
I wonder if he is referring to the tear at the top or the diamond postal mark ?

My query this morning;
To: serandi
From: cdj1122
Item: #280472221409, GREAT BRITAIN MH27 UNUSED, LARGE PRINTING FLAW.
Subject: General question about this item
Hi.
Is the flaw you are referring to the tear near the top of the stamp ?

The answer received this afternoon;
Subject: Re: cdj1122 has sent a question about item #280472221409, ending on Mar-08-10 06:26:19 PST - GREAT BRITAIN MH27 UNUSED, LARGE PRINTING FLAW. Look.
Dear CDJ
That too --- but look at the blotch next to the 2.

A subsequent response I could not resist sending;
To: sarandi
From: cdj1122
Item: GREAT BRITAIN MH27 UNUSED, LARGE PRINTING FLAW. Look. (280472221409)
The diamond shaped blotch between the two and the Queen's chest is a postal marking added to the envelope during the cancellation process. The machine they were using placed a series of marks on the envelope, some of which were circular, some seemed to be square or diamond shaped and others of no particular form.
.
Neither the scratch/tear nor the "blotch" is a printing flaw.Thus the retail value of the virtually worthless common 2p green is reduced to absolute zero.

My work is done here !!!

Do you think he is taking the proverbial when he thinks the tear is an attraction? Or is he just thick? (getting nasty just for Brian).

Maybe not so thick ........... maybe that honour should go to the person who bought it ..... YES - it was sold . 99cents maybe but if I could find his name I would wish I had kept all my torn stamps instead of consigning them to the re-cycling.

[ Or is he just thick? (getting nasty just for Brian).

I'm now trying to work out if I am thick or nasty............perhaps both. Shocked

No, can't be me, there must be another Brian.

Peace, Love and Goodwill to all.

RE: 2p Green
.
I did get an answer from the seller.
.
Dear cdj1122,

Thank you.

- sarandi

.
I guess Sara and Di are wallowinhg in their new found wealth. I just wish the buyer would see this thread and seek a refund as the item was falsely described.
.
I guess their defense would be that the photo plainly showed the tear and the blotch so caveat emptor.
